The detailed design for the City of Mason SCADA Upgrade Project. The project included a new industrial Ethernet control system network, upgrading several older PLC controllers to new Rockwell Automation ControlLogix L7x1 controllers, and a complete upgrade of the SCADA system to a new Trihedral VTScada system. We provided detailed instrumentation and controls design. He also provided construction administration and PLC & SCADA System programming, checkout, and startup services. The new industrial Ethernet control system network is designed to have several levels of redundancy throughout. A new Ethernet ring network design will allow the network to maintain communications in the event of a break or localized failure at any point by rerouting network traffic. The network design uses VLANs to optimize network traffic and reduce the number of switches required. Industrial Ethernet switches were utilized to improve reliability, and redundant SCADA servers were installed at separate locations in the plant. Several Rockwell Automation components, including controllers and PanelView touchscreen interfaces, are being replaced due to existing product obsolescence. He also provided construction administration services, configured new industrial control networks, PLCs, and SCADA Systems, and performed programming, checkout, and startup
